The winter had come with vengeance, and snow fell in sheets. Brisk breezes had turned freezing, and rivers froze over. And yet amidst it all, Joffrey had never felt warmer. He knew the disappearance of the sun would lull his enemy into a false sense of confidence, thinking the abrupt change in weather was divine sign of his impending victory. Joffrey didn’t rely on any Gods, only relying on the weight of a blade in his hands. He wasn’t a fool. He knew that he could not wage war, not without exposing them both. He knew what needed to be done. 

He needed to kill Robb Stark.

Robb traced the edge of the table tersely, casting a hesitant glance over to his wife. He fidgeted for a few more seconds before finally speaking. “Y/N? Do you trust me?” There was something frightening about just how quiet his voice had become. 

This made her pause, glancing up from her needlework. “What is this about?” 

Robb flexed his fingers, tactfully meeting her gaze, and holding his ground. “When do you want to make the announcement about the birth?” He asked plainly, aptly ignoring her question. 

Y/N cleared her throat before she responded, keeping a tenuous appearance of calm. “In a few months, when we’re sure the child will survive infancy.” She resumed her needlework, keeping her expressions neutral. 

Robb was silent for a moment. “Why wait?”

Y/N made a frantic motion to remove herself from Joffrey, but his firm hands kept her in place. Her cheeks flushed a deep red, and she felt her chest constrict. Gods, she knew this would happen, she knew that there had to be some falling out from this, but she’d only wished that they could’ve gotten more time

Joffrey, on the other hand, was cool, collected, staring unblinkingly at Jamie. “Evening, Uncle.” He breezed coldly, his jaw set firmly. “You’d do well to knock the next time you intrude.” Annoyance leaked through his tone, and he finally relented, releasing the trembling girl still firmly planted on top of him.
