When Thor returns to Earth, the first place he wants to go is the Avengers Compound. He is anxious to see the team, to see his friends, and anxious to get a smile from Tony, because there isn’t a whole lot of things Thor enjoys more than seeing the beautiful genius light up with that perfect smile.

But the compound is abandoned, and Tony isnt smiling, and when Thor learns what happened with Captain Rogers, what happened in Russia, he is furious. 

Because all Tony does is wander around the empty building, stare out windows and drink until he falls asleep. He doesn’t work anymore, doesn’t even bother opening the doors to his lab. His AI is the only one there to keep him company, and FRIDAY is silent more often than not. Tony’s expensive suits hang off a too thin frame, and his dark eyes have lost the spark that drew Thor to him in the first place.

Tony doesn’t want him there, doesn’t need him there, but Thor refuses to leave. He spends his nights watching Tony sleep, soothing his nightmares, and his days trying to get Tony to eat, trying to show him that he is loved, that he is still beautiful and worthwhile.

And one night, with storms raging outside the windows, Tony finally gives in, finally lets Thor love him like he’s wanted to for so long.

But when the rest of the team comes home, Tony pulls away, and Thor realizes that maybe Tony wont heal as well as they thought, maybe things will never be all the way alright within the Avengers.

But he’s not giving up.
Thors not giving up on Tony.
Not now, and not ever.
